Provision of advice to the Institute of Physics on policy in the fields covered by Optics and Photonics

DESCRIPTION

Exchange of research information, organisation and running of activities and events which promote the interests of the Division; within this a major activity is the organisation of a biannual divisional conference.

Liaison and collaboration with other professional bodies with interests in similar technical areas. Increasingly this is international collaboration. The divisional committee has co-opted members representing IEE (Group 13) SPIE, the European Optical Society and the Optical Society of America.

Representation of the member groups on the Divisional Affairs Committee and Congress Steering Group; through this mechanism the division contributes to the Institute's dialogue with EPSRC and others, and to government lobbying.
