Until 2005, the calls for proposals within Slovenia were mainly published as general calls. However, in 2005 the call consisted of both a general area as well as thematic areas.
DESCRIPTION
In 2005, a call for project proposals was published by the Slovenian Research Agency - ARRS with the closing date set as July 23, 2005. The call consisted of thematically oriented basic and applied research projects, general applied research projects and postdoctoral basic and applied projects.
The thematically oriented basic and applied research projects were divided into three priority clusters.
- Cluster 1: Genomic and biotechnology for health, quality and safety of food products.
- Optimisation and control of synthesis and biosynthesis processes

The general part of the call includes applicative research projects and postdoctoral basic and applied projects.
The public funding stimulates a high level of basic and applied research. Participants from EU countries are allowed to participate but are not financed by Slovenia. Furthermore, as can be seen from the above list of thematic areas, laser technologies is one of the thematic priorities in Slovenia.
