Other Reports

Report 1: High-power LEDs
September 2006
The pace of innovation at the high-power end of the LED market shows no signs of slowing down. New performance benchmarks have been set by high-power LED manufacturers, while researchers continue to investigate novel materials and chip technologies to improve lumen output and efficiency. Building on the original LED Quarterly Insights report, this update reviews and assesses the very latest achievements.
Report 2: Organic LEDs
December 2006
Organic LEDs offer a low-cost light source for high-volume applications such as display backlights, but concern still surrounds the durability of organic light sources and the manufacture of larger panel sizes. This report reviews the current capabilities of OLED technology, and assesses its long-term potential in the commercial marketplace.
Report 3: LED light engines
December 2006
LED light engines - which integrate multiple high-power LEDs with effective systems for optical and thermal management - offer designers and specifiers a ready-to-use solution that reduces both the cost and, crucially, the risk associated with adopting LED technology. As a consequence, the availability of such integrated modules is expected to help LED technology to penetrate mainstream consumer applications such as displays and lighting

LED Quarterly Insights
LED Quarterly Insights is essential reading for equipment and materials suppliers; LED device and module manufacturers; and lighting-system developers.
Photonics21 Strategic Research Agenda
The agenda had been drawn up since the constitution of the Photonics21 Technology Platform in December 2005 in Brussels by more than 350 experts from 27 countries, including 120 companies and with strong involvement from all OPERA2015 partners. It sketches out the basis for a common strategy for consolidating Europe’s global market leadership in photonics. This strategy is intended to serve as the foundation on which R&D expenditure and activities are to be increased and coordinated at European, national and regional level. EU-Commissioner Viviane Reding accepted this SRA on April 4th in Strasbourg, France
